Ladies and gentlemen,

I am looking for old photos and veterans of the U.S. Bremen Enclave1945-48, particularly about the officer Club HOHEHORST.

Can you help me in my search?

Veterans of world war II: Memory of BREMEN ENVLAVE/ Germany 1945-1948

Do you remember the building “manor-house HOHEHORST” in LÖHNHORST, a small village at the outskirts of BREMEN ?

Here was an officer club from 1945-1948 for US troops in the Bremen Enclave.

The following troops were stationed in BREMEN :

- BREMEN-GROHN ( Camp Grohn , distance 5 km): 29. US Infantry Division HQ and 29th Inf Rgt, thereafter 307th Replacement Depot
use today: International University : www.jacobs-university.de (

- BREMEN-LESUM (LESUM barracks, distance 5 km): 121st General Hospital
use today: Charity Organization: www.Friedehorst.de (click: About Friedehorst)

- BREMEN/City Center (distance 20 km): Headquarter BPC Bremen Port Command (US-Military Government Bremen-Enclave
(DC, District Constabulary)
use today: Senator of Finances and –authorities: www.Finanzen.Bremen.de (click: Amtssitz Haus des Reichs)

- OSTERHOLZ-SCHARMBECK (distance 15 km): Headquarter 175th Infantry Regiment

- Camp SCHWANEWEDE (distance 5 km): troops? (roundabout 2000 soldiers), there was an “Army Service Club”, too

About the manor-house HOHEHORST (Officer Club) we have no photos or documents in our village out of this time for chronicle purposes.

We are looking particularly for a bronze sculpture (in life size), goddess: “Diana, the Huntress with group of deer” out of the park of the manor-house HOHEHORST.

Witnesses reported, that US troops took the statue with them, when they left.

We would like to know, where the statue is at his time (perhaps in US barracks or a private-garden)?

So we may negotiate to get the statue back if possible.

We are also interested in private photos and documents from the US military time in Bremen .

Perhaps family members of former veterans would be interested to contribute items, such as photos etc. from this time in BREMEN .

Please send all information to retired captain of the German Federal Armed Forces:
