What a surprise I had last Saturday. I went to an open house of the new Obermayr bi-lingual elementary school in Ruesselsheim, low and behold it is located in my old work place, HQ. 106th Trans Bn. What a trip into the past.

From 1975 to 1978 I was the safety manager for the Battalion, one of the best jobs I ever had. Grady Burleson, Ray Sterns, and ? Wallace were my Bn commanders. Harold Coe from 70th Trans Co up at Giessen was the first high miler to pass 300 thousand safe miles. I had organized a big convoy to go from Giessen to Azbill Barracks, on the way Coe passed the 300 thousand miles. AFN TV was waiting at the entrance to the TTP, Lt Col Burleson was so proud and after that I couldn't do anything wrong.

Today. the HQ building is totally renovated, the 78th Trans Co building is converted to town houses. The parade field, TTP and motor pool are now built up with town houses as well. I will take some pictures of the place and try to post them on Google Earth and Panoramio.

I live in the town next door, Raunheim, right under the approach patterns of Frankfurt airport.

I'd love to hear from any 106 or 37 TC folks - epprengel@gmail.com

Hey guys, as a mechanic at 78th Trans from 87-92, I really enjoyed the time at Russelsheim as well. Occasionally I see some of the older guys who are still living in the Wiesbaden area. I bought home near by the old housing area in Nauheim. Mr. Packodrem, I guess I’m spelling his name right (106th facility Coordinator) comes around sometime and I’ve spoken with him several time before Wurzburg Community closed. I remember you Lonnell during the 15th Trans aria with Diamond Den as the Frist Sergeant; man those were the good old days. I travel a lot, I'm currently working at Fort Blevoir, VA (johnny.warford@dla.mil).

I live in Rüsselsheim an i remember the train crash 1990. It was really horrible! My mother has missed the train and so she had been lucky.
The soldiers from the azbill barracks was the first helper, they saved lot of life's, thank you!
Greetings from Rüsselsheim,
