Hi Kevin,
I was there from 63 to 66. I was with Combat Support Pt. 34th Sig. Bn. I think that the building that the Black bare was in is still there but I don't know if the bare is still there. Had a great time in Ansbach. I spent 3 tours in Germany all togather. Of all the towns I liked Ansbach best. Dan.

I arrived at Kelly Barracks (Stuttgart) 12-18-63..In march 1st I went with an advanced party to Bleidorn..Kaserne..It took 2 weeks to get everything set up..
My wife had come over on Feb. 15th and we found an apt. in Eyb..I did a lot of walking each day..We loved Germany and we had the best landlord and Frau..We lived at 12 Weinburgstrasse..That was almost 48 years ago..I was a radio operator but spent most of my time with KP, Guard, Ammo-detail etc..I wouldn't take anything for those 18 months..Did you ever go to Graf.?..We spent a lot of time there..Would like to hear from you and your adventures..Tom

2nd Platoon 501st MP Company Erlangen 1983-1985. I remember a Nashville Bar in almost every German town. There was a disco in Graph and I believe one in Hoenfells (spelling). So many good times spent in Germany, hope I can make it back someday

I was at Bleidorn from 5/62 until 4/64 at DSU 4020...a Chemical SUpply Depot. The 4th and 28th artillery were there at the same time as were other units. My group was very small (about 12-15 guys) so we got out of a lot of the bs the Army is famous for!. I loved going to town but hated the hill on the way back up...quickly learned enough German so I could talk a taxi driver into taking me up the hill for 2 marks ($.50)! Made lots of friends there, still have wonderful memories and hope to return next year with my wife.

I wonder is the Schwartzen Baar is still in business...I sure spent enough there to keep it going for many years!

Would love to hear from folks who were there about the same time.

I arrived in Katterbach in Janurary 1980 and I figured I was home for the next 3 years. Then I met PFC Rackard who then drove me from Katterbach the short distance to Ansbach. Through town we went until we reached the top of the hill where Bleidorn Kaserne was located.I will always remember my first trip through the front gate. Little did I know how much guard duty I would pull.I recall being nervous about my new home but after being introduced to PVT Moya, PVT Bryant, P, CPL Trondal,PVT White, PVT Barbosa,PVT Huggins,PVT Carey,I knew would be fine and even SGT Henery couldnt change, and he tried how I felt.Little did I know I was beginning the best three years of my life. Hey if any of 1st section that I named above see this send me an e-mail or call at 816-868-3773 its been much to long so lets talk.Oh Kirk Anderson you can call me to peace brothers.

501st MP Company Security Platoon (The General's33) Bleidorn Kasserne (1983-1985). Spent a lot of time in the field in various places, but when I was in Ansbach, I enjoyed spending my time at the Liberty bar, or the Flair disco. There was a bar below the Flair I liked too, but I can't remember the name. There was a bar I went to Downtown, don't remember the name, but some idiot popped a tear gas grenade in there and after that GI's weren't welcome anymore.
Had so many great times. Wonder if Donna Stevens is still around?
Went back in '99 and Bleidorn was a Polizei training camp, Most of Hindeberg Casserne was torn down and replaced with a shopping mall (beautiful mall btw). The old HQ building was an all girls school. Barton Barracks was still in use. Didn't have a car to get out to Katterbach or Bismarck cassernes, but I'm guessing they are still in use.
