  1. I was stationed at Camp Pieri with an Ordinance Company in late 1970-1971. I was in charge of a 5-Ton Wrecker until someone “borrowed” it and drove it down the hill and into the farmer’s apple orchard.

I remember someone burning down our barracks. I remember playing foosball with the locals – boy were THEY good!

Anyone remember the “Crazy Sexy” bars?
Anyone remember finding a tunnel (former Nazi escape route) that led to downtown Weisbaden?
    Remember the Kleinfeldgen Swimbah?

I never took any photos of that place while I was there. Went to Vietnam and Germany became a very short time of my life after that.

Sure would like to see some photos of that camp from that era.

  2. I am glad to have found this web site – Army Kaserne Logs.

My first job with the US Military was at Camp Pieri from 1971 to 1973. The Army had hired me, a historian, as an engineer !, albeit a facility engineer. Camp Pieri had just been released by USAFE and turned over to the Army. A Seargent BN was stationed there and a maintenace company – I think it was the 305th.

Those were the days of zero unemployment in Germany and we had a hard time finding people. We hired about 6 retired Turkish military folks, officers and enlisted – very good people. I had just arrived in Germany from a job in Brussels, Belgium. We were a “sub facility engineer” of the Frankfurt Facilities Engineer unit. That is when I learned the term “scrounging”. we scrounged most of our equipment, including our “new” office building that came from the closed Army facilities at Kassel.

Our captain was Lionel LaPage – I wonder whatever happened to him. He sold me a pair of brown engineer boots which I still wear today when I go bike riding. Our Seargeant was “Pappy Grimes”, he did not want to go to his next assignment, Korea, and he retired but passed away just a couple of months later. We had a CW who drove a blue Fiat Spider convertible.

2 other people stick out in my memories, the chief KP at the Mess hall, he hired on even during WWII. When he passed away, the BN Cdr gave him a big funeral service. The other was a seamstress on post – old and toothless, but a great heart and always some young GI boyfriend. She also received a big funeral service when she passed away.

  6. A request, from the Lance reunion planning team. We understand that everyone is busy. But we ask that if you are planning to attend the Lance reunion, contact me.

We want to get the numbers on how many people will attend the reunion each month, and from where. Because the site selected in Lawton, will only hold up to 125 individuals.

“Furthermore, Lancer Lonnie Baker is in the process of making CD’s to give out at the reunion. If you want your unit pictures, or a picture of yourself to be included in it. Please contact Lonnie on how to send your pictures ASAP! Look at the Lance Missile face book web site for his information.

Note: The location of the site and other information will be sent out in the next two weeks. Also, a monthly update will be sent out to keep everyone informed. While we finish our things to do list for the reunion Lancers.

“Please help us to make our TOT.
    The Lance Missile Reunion Team!

  8. I was stationed with an ordnance repair unit as a radio-code operator from 6/61 – 2/62.
Most of us were transferred from Mainz/Gossenheim where I had been since 6/60.
The base was great as it was small, set in the mountains and overlooked the Rhine River along with being outside of Wiesbaden. We were the only Army unit sharing the base with the Air Force. Good memories of the area and the gun club across the road.
