  16. I was assigned to the 77th MP Det. right out of AIT arriving with that Unit on April 1 1965 stationed at Coleman Barraks operating the UASREUR North Baden Distr, Stockade. Confined in that facility were all branches of the military. Prison population was variable and ranged from 750 to 1000. Once prisoner adjudication was complete, they were returned to the US, initially via boat until late 1965 and thereafter by Air. Marine Corps prisoners were well disciplined as contrasted with Army Airborne prisoners who just seemed to be a petulant undisciplined bunch. Was discharged as a draftee in October 1966, yet was called up in 1967 to provide supplemental security ar Camp Roberts, Ca., rounding out my prescribed obligations. On returning to the US, I found it hard to tell who disliked the MPs more, the prisoners, or the civilians due to the Vietnam war, protests, etc.
