  1. To all the guys who were at Flak Kaserne (later renamed Larson Barracks) in Kitzingen…
One of my friends said he was with the 82nd Artillery Regiment in 1961-63. It was probably the 1st Missile Battalion.
I checked the Larson Barracks listings, but couldn’t find anyone who was with the 82nd Arty.
My friend doesn’t have a computer, so he can’t go online to check anything. His name is Luersson, his sergeant’s name was Williamson.
Does anyone remember them, or have any information regarding reunions or associations? or related web-links?
Just thought I’d try to help out a fellow vet.
    I was 4th Armored-Pinder-mid 60′s.
I’m sure he’d appreciate it. Thanks.

  2. Looking for the name of an Army Kaserne, N of Kassels not too far from East German border. I was TDY in 1972, installing mircowave equipment on an antenna site near by, can not remember name of Army base. Thanks

    • Maybe Bad Hersfeld (McPheeters Barracks), 52 km south of Kassel near the former East German border – no us army kasernes north of Kassel.

      Best regards

  5. Greetings,

Could you ask/post if there is somebody who was stationed in Mönchengladbach, Germany? There was a US Army base called Churchill Kaserne. It was also called South Park. From what I found out, the 14th Combat Equipment Company (activated on Feb. 12, 1979) under the Combat Equipment Battalion – North (CEBN), the 514th US Army Artillery Group and the US Army 6953rd Civilian Support Center (Ordnance /Guard) were stationed there. It was also one of the POMCUS sites.

The 514th US Army Artillery Group was activated in Germany and stationed at Mönchengladbach in December 1961. The Group was subordinate to the Special Ammunition Support Command. The 514th Group’s mission was to implement the SASCOM Special Ammunition Support Program in cooperation with the Northern Army Group (NORTHAG) and Second Allied Tactical Air Force (2ATAF).

The so called British Army of the Rhine (BOAR) took the base over in 1996. Today, the installation is called Ayrshire Barracks and still in operation under the British.

    Thank you,

    Martin Heinen

  6. Hi there,

I’m just trying to find out where my father Max Klima (a German citizen) was stationed in the late 50′s early 60′s.

He took me into the Fuerth/Nuernberg area a couple of times when I was a child,
but I have no more information where he was stationed exactly.

Besides the fact that he was a German citizen he had a Sergeant rank in the US Army.

Any help and information is welcome and highly appreciated.

    best

  11. Hello,
My father, also Charles Pelkey, and my uncle, Philip Pelkey, served with the 503rd Engineers, extending the runways at Tegel during the Berlin Airlift. My father then moved on down to Göppingen (where I was born) and then on to Pirmasens.

Both my father and uncle have long passed, but I am just looking for old friends of theirs … or mine from my days at the U.S. school in Pirmasens.

My parents split up and I grew up in Germany until I was eight and go back home quite often. I’m now an attorney in Laramie, Wyoming, and just wondering who is out there.
