The firstanSchweinfurt after the War was the 15th inf. 3 Div.When they left there, the 27th F.A.Bn 1st Aromer Div.moved into Schweinfurt It later became the 27 th F.A. Bn,1st Armor Div. Then it became the 27th Constabulary Sdn, part of the U.S.Constab.in June 1946 when all units where place in theConstablary under General Enest Harmon who founded the Constabulary when most units became part of it. It was set to take over the borners police units,city police and highway partol its total man pawer was to be 30,000 but it never had more than 15,000 It was a good unit to be in .It was closed out in 1952 when the new German police units took over its duties If anyone would more info. please e-mail me at glennor1944@yahoo.com. I was stationed at Conn with the 183d Ordinance Detachment D/S, 3/7th 1963 to 1964. Our compound was located on the main struss in front of the helo pad.

Yes it was. That was where I lived. C co.3rd ABC . The barracks had a flight control tower on top of it. It went back to WW-2. The post movie theater was next door and jut down the street was the rod and gun club. The flight line ran parrallel to it. And the runway took off towards the left straight to the ADA battery at the end of the flight line. that was back in ’81-82.
