  1. Guten Tag . . . My name is Bartow Houston and I was at Fort Skelly from late Nov. ’59 until late April ’62. I was in L troop, then assigned to the 502nd Armored Medical Co. I was TDY in ’60 and ’61 playing football. I sang in the post chapel choir. If my name is familiar please let me know from you. Also, I worked with the AYA (American Youth Activities) coaching the basketball and baseball teams.
    Thanks (Danke schon)

  2. To David Fitch are you Betty Fitch brother? Plese let me know.
    Thanks, Pedro……

  3. I was a medic with “D” batt. 6/61st at Fort Skelly in ’64 then we moved to Pioneer Kaserne. Fellow medic was Rich Hansen from NY city. Captn’ Oalkey (?) was C/O, M/Sgt Randleel was “Top Dog”, Jerry Hancock (from Indiana) was the co. clerk (wife was Barb), Pete Amone (Funeral Director from Chicago area), Al Szymanski(?) from Cisero area. I left in July ’65 and came home to Spokane,Wa where I’ve been ever since. Great times at the Napolean Stein and the “Collosium” downtown. It’d be great to hear from a few relics from back in those days.

  4. Hello right back

I too was stationed at Fort Skelly from 1961 until February of 1964. I was a member
of Battery D, 6th Missile Battalion (Hawk), 61st ADA. We were obviously a “bastard”
outfit on the post. Our missile site was way out past the Napoleon Stein, and out
on the other side of the Bundeswehr training field. I am now a retired Manufacturing
Manager from the Boeing Company’s Commercial Airline Spares department, and
living in Prescott Valley, Arizona. I have totally lost track of all my old friends from
D Battery, and some of the guys I used to play music with at the service club.

I played the upright bass in a little combo with Jamie Wright on the drums, “Stony” Stonecipher on piano, and a fellow named Bilby on rythm guitar and vocal. Don’t
remember his first name. There was also a lead gutar player and I don’t remember
his name at all. Well, that’s about it for now. If any of our old “comrades” are still alive and kicking, feel free to email me at: ctroop@yahoo.com.

    • I got to “D” battery 6/61st at Fort Skelly mid-Jan. ’64 and was a medic with Rich Hansen(NY city) we later mover to Pioneerr Kaserne and I went home in July ’65.
Drank boat loads of beer at the “Napolean Stein”. Remember Mom & Pop Schudderer(?)? I REALLY remember Anna Mae their daughter, she was a piece of work to look at (to young to date). Capt. Oalke was CO, M/Sgt Randleel was top Sgt, Jerry Hancock (wife was Barb) was co. clerk. You were a “Short timer” and probably was clearing post when I arrived.

    • Bastards of the post was right, every time there was an alert we almost got wiped out by the Armored Cav.’s tanks and especially the tank retrievers. They ruled the road!!

  5. Hello
I was stationed at Fort Skelly from 1962 until Jan 1964. I was in HQ and was driver for the squadron commander. Later was transfered to K Troop. Anyone remember the boxer Muncie who was tdy. I was there when Kennedy was ass and also the full alert.
Great group of soldiers I had the honor to serve with. My best to all of you.

    Doster
