Hi. My step-father (Larry Hudson) was stationed in Karlsruhe at Gerszewski Barracks from ’76-’80. I’m no longer in touch with him, but I’m trying to track down the location of the off base housing we lived in there. I want to show my kids the area on google earth. All I remember is 2 buildings, one approx. 3 stories high and the other about 10. Sat next to a train or tram track. A playground was built between them in ’79 or early ’80. I was pretty young so memory is foggy. I remember it was several miles from the barracks. Ring any bells? Thanks
Randy, The housing you are talking about was called Neureut military highrisers. They are now German housing because Karlsruhe military community no longer exist. Yes the Strassen Bahn ran right by them with the end station at that time was Neureut. I was station on Neureut from 79-82.
Hey Eric, the Saying Road Dog brings back memories, around the early 80s a friend named Richard Dunn called me his Road Dog one night and it stuck as us being Road Dogs from them on, later the wrecker drivers all put Road Dog signs on the side of the wrecker Booms, and then the doors, the compmany the became known as the Road Dogs,
Probably no one knew/knows where that all came from

Hey Road Dogs! This is Eric Miller. I served in the 517th maintenance company from 1989-1991. Was sad to learn the post was closed.
