Randy, The housing you are talking about was called Neureut military highrisers. They are now German housing because Karlsruhe military community no longer exist. Yes the Strassen Bahn ran right by them with the end station at that time was Neureut. I was station on Neureut from 79-82.

Hey John I don’t remeber you but the name sounds femilair,
I was with the 517th Maint from 72 to 79, 2 tours, Chief Horn was my shop Officer also,
Although I worked most of the latter years in the Inspection shop with SFC Word, I was SSG Haning, I can’t remember the other 3 names.
The Saying Road Dog brings back memories, around the Mid 70′s when a friend named Richard Dunn called me his Road Dog one night and it stuck as us being Road Dogs from them on, later the wrecker drivers all put Road Dog signs on the side of the wrecker Booms, and then the doors, the compmany the became known as the Road Dogs,
Probably no one knew/knows where that all came from
Frenchy use to work in the Auto bay as the handy man on everything Chief needed done. He built an Electric Motorcycle while there, Wow the good old days
