    • I lived in Gibbs from 1980 to 1983. My dad was at chemical company, First Seargant Danny Ray Tester. Unfortunately, he died in 1985. I was a little kid and have good memories about that time. Except the bomb one night. It went up exactly in front of our house. I was so scared. I have exact memories of the playgrounds, my best friend’s name was John. In the 90ies, I visited the area, but everything was different…

    • I was too in double duce (22 nd Chemical Co) from Jan 82 to Sept 84 the Captain last name was Semancisk and I was in 2nd platoon and the platoon sargent was Candelaria (last name). I had good memories.

    • I was with the 22nd Chemical Co from 81 to 83. When I first arrived it was known as the 22nd Criminal Co until we got a new CO, Capt Burgett cleaned house kicking people out of the Army or giving article 15′s. I was there when the bomb went off in the housing area and one of the clubs, I think it was the plantation club but I’m not sure.

    • I forgot to add this, It’s not a pretty sight.

    • Tony Atchinson and Hector Fiol,

Remember both of you. Tony think you left shortly after I took command. Hector remember you well. Your old platoon sgt – SFC Candaleria – died not long after us being there – had a heart attack.

I actually stayed in the Army and retired after 26 years. Now working in Washington.

      Those were good times.
