Rick, I was with A 1/64 3rd platoon way back in 1970/71. We still had M60's and a few A2's Each platoon had 2 out of 5 A2's. Platoon leader (1or2 LT) and platoon SGT was assigned to the newer A2's I was a TC from 1/71 until I left in July 71.
About 15 years ago I was sitting at a railroad crossing where I live (small town in southern Indiana) waiting for the train to pass. The cargo was about 30 M60A2 tanks headed for a scrap yard at the edge of town. Made me feel real old.

Regards, Steve

Mr. Starks, What company were you with? I was in A 1/64 from Feb.1970 to July 1971. I had 3 CO's during this time. Capt Hennesey, Faltisco and Haley. Were you a 1st SGT during your tour? Also had 3 1st SGT during my time. 1st SGT White, Johns and can't remember the name of the 3rd right now.
You might know some of these people.

SP5 Dave Brown I was in A company 1/64 Armour for 17 long months. I also pulled a lot of guard duty at the front gate. Your right, you were pretty much on your own there. Seems like every other drunk(s) wanted to fight, bum money or cigarettes. All you had was a empty 45 for defense. Made for a long 2 hours every 4.

To Frank Ervin. Do I remember Pops hamburger stand? I lived on those for 17 months. Stopped for coffee and doughnuts in the morning hamburgers and coke for lunch and a coke in the afternoon just before he closed for the day. He always said he was in the American army during the war because they ate fried chicken everyday. Funny old guy.

Capt. Hennesey I remember you. I was stationed at Harvey company A 1/64 from 2/70 until discharged in 7/71. I can't remember 1st sgt name other than he was hard to deal with. Anyway seems like he left not long after I arrived. SFC Galyon was my paltoon SGT. I made E-5 in Feb 71 and was assigned to tank A35 as TC You may remember 1LT Fox. 2LT when I meet him and was a Capt when I left..

Anyway, good seeing a name I remember from all those years ago.

I was at Harvey Barracks with the 66th HEM from Jan 66 to June 67. It was a great place to serve knowing others were in Vietnam. I worked in the shop office. My brother was in Vietnam at the same time I was in Germany. I sure that is why I was assigned there at the last minute. I did a lot of traveling while there - Berlin, England, Holland, France & Germany. Would appreciate comments from anyone during that period.
