I was stationed at Hindenburg Kaserne 1959-1962 I ended up staying 3 years as I got extended due to the begining of the Berlin wall fiasco. At that time I was in A -Battery 1st Howitzer Bn. 75 th Arty, 7th Army. I returned in 1982 and it was just about the same but I understand a Medical facility now occupiesa the area.

Hello Everyone,

I was on the Division IG team from Apr 84 to Jan 87, after being stationed at Illeshiem, and then Crailsheim. I remember some of the same people, particuarly MGs Healy, Saint and Palmer, and CSM Horvath.
I lived in Elpersdorf, just outside Ansbach, during my time there. We had a lot of fun traveling all over the Division area to do IG inspections: Montieth, Pinder, Bamberg, Erlangen, etc.
Many good memories of my time in the 'Residenzstadt' (I was single at the time)!

I was stationed at Hindenburg from 75 to 78 with the 501st AG Company Supply. SFC
George Huber was the supply sergeant. Great funny guy. He was good to work for. Brent Johns from Idaho and Lester Stewart from Alabama and I use to hang out and drink at the Ansbacher Brewery Gasthaus. Hans ran the place. A carton of cigarettes
gave you credit for alot beer and great food. Ansbach was a beautiful place to be stationed. Traveled alot while I was in Germany. I spent alot of time in Schwabisch Hall
with my sweetheart there. Still in contact with her. My wife and I are traveling there next year for a month and will be visiting her and her husband and renting a house nearby. Anyone else here from the 501st?

I was in HHC, 1st AD 1983-1985. I worked in the G2. I remember all those you mentioned. I have to disagree about CSM Horvath. I had the opportunity to train with him as well. He was a soldier 1st. I have wonderful memories of 1st AD. Do any of you remember 1st Sgt David Majors?
