I was in 149th Maint on Hutier 96 -97. Went to Hungary for a spell while stationed there. I hope that this gets to some of the Friends I made there and lost touch with over the years. And I still only have 5 dollars.
I was assigned in Hanau from June 1963-June 1966. I remember only that Hutier Kaserne was Signal Units. Must have change later….Am I wrong about the Signal Units? Thanks. PS The Education Center was also located on this Kaserne.
I worked for the Battalion Commander 2nd Battalion, 6th Field Artillery from 1983-1985. George Singleton was my boss before him Captain Taylor, Battalion’s secretary’s last name was Headley. I so enjoyed working there. Great bunch of folks. Lived at Sportsfield housing
I was in 2nd Bn 6th FA at Hutier Kasern from 85-87… I was a 13 Fox . Spent most of my time as S2 driver and clerk even though MOS was forward observer…You?
I was in the MET section. First unit to move into the newer building. I arrived December 31st 1984. First night was New Years and my new section mates took me to Saxon Housing. Dodging cherry bombs all night. Miss the beer. I left Germany in July of 1987.
I was at fliegerhorse kaserne from 1988-90 with 2-75FA,Charlie battery.my time there was the craziest.from exploring the underground tunnels at the airfield to being a witness to the Ramstein air show crash to hanging out at the Village and the pioneer club,Hanau was one of the best kept secrets in Germany.2/75 became 3-20 FA.and back then, sachsenhausen was the bomb as well.my barracks were on the left side of the road across from the 227th Avn barracks.i hung out with baskerville, cephas, moore,Francois,Baham, sperry,Brimmer.i was in Ssg Singers section.
Was Sp4 stationed at Hutier, HHC 2nd Spt Bgde, from ’64-68. Then we got moved to the IG Farben Building in Frankfurt. Worked for Col. Oliver Norell, Jr.

I was in the wire section. Sgt Eckerson . , Lt beckham. I hope to hear from some of those . soon. Louis negron, Feranlin C. Myers. Eugine Spurgen. Anthont Williams. Im Sp 5 jorge. Morales.
Hello Chandler and Jorhge. My father, Kenneth King, a Sp 4, was stationed at
Hutier in HHC 2nd Support Brigade from 1964-66. He worked in and ran the HQ motor pool. His First Sgt. was Sgt. Clancy (Klancy?) and he reported to a
Lt. Wynn (Winn?). He also became close friends with the Colonel’s driver
who had the last name Moses. And he still is in touch with a Robert “Bob”
Bartolo who worked as a clerk in HQ. In the motor pool he worked with
a ? Hatfield and ? Kofelt (don’t know their first names). Would love to
know if any names ring a bell and pass on to my dad any memories you may
have of people or Hutier in general. Thanks gentlemen for your service!
I was stationed on Hutier Kasserne from January 1985 to July 1987. I was in the Meteorological section as a cpl. I initially was in the barracks closest to the motor pool. Then we moved into the new barracks by the gate. My section was hated by the other sections in HHB Divarty, because we never had to go to Graf. We went to Velseck TDY. I remember Rufus B. Rogers as our commander. My section leader was sgt first class Terry Groves. The Captain I remember most was Stoverink and the 1st sgt I think was Mull. But I nicknamed him Cujo. Inside joke, if you ever new him and saw the movie Cujo, you know what I am talking about. We used to go to Tony’s pizza accross the street on Lamboy all the time. I miss Bruno and Marchello, who I called Marshmellow. I loved my job and was very good at it. I just hate the Army part of it. Hurry up and wait.
I knew Cujo well. When I first arrived at HHB Divarty, he called me into his office and chewed me out good, just to put the fear in me, I think.
I worked in Supply, from 1987 to 1989. Remember Capt. Camperson the most. Also, 1LT. Minehan? My boss was SSG Green, the female supply sergeant.
I remember Tony’s well. gained a lot of weight by eating too much pizza!
Mike…….You have my utmost sympathy. You were inflicted with Rufus Billy Rogers as the DIVARTY Commander. Rufus was also the Battalion Commander of the Centaur Battalion, 2 Bn 6th FA also on Hutier from summer 79 to fall 81. How he was promoted from O-5 to O-6 and returned to the Spearhead Division is beyond comprehension. Rufus was famous for organizing Pancake Breakfasts to raise funds for the high school band of the Hanau DOD school. He was able to do it by detailing junior officers and NCOs to “volunteer” for cook and cleanup duty and by diverting food supplies from the Centaur Mess Hall.
Hi Chris…… Didn’t have too much problem with Col Rogers. The one from the “Head Shed” that struck a cord with me, was sergent major Emery. I think about it today and remember inpections and he would shake his right hand at you with his index and pinky finger sticking out and say “fix it!” Funny, you had to be there. Do you remember Family Land? That was a pretty fun place to party. Also there was a off limits club, I cant remember the name, but it had airplane seats for chairs. I miss Germany. So many things that wish I would have done and places I wish I would have visited. Did anybody ever take the Fulda Gap tour? That, was interesting to say the least. There was also the former Nazi SS soldier who was the taylor on Hutier. What a guy! I liked him though.
While my friends went to college, I went to war. The same hour they woke to decide not to go to school that day, I’d been at work for hours. Their alarms woke them up, my alarms sent me to cover. They made plans based on how they felt, I did as the schedule that was put out to me demanded. They couldn’t wait to leave home, I couldn’t wait to get back. But when we look back on our respective lives, they like theirs, I am DAMN PROUD of mine. Repost if you are a Veteran.
