<description>I am an American who has been working for AAFES in Ramstein for 37 years. In August 2010 I married a Russian Girl. Together we have a lovely daughter who is American.
I have been trying to get my wife a SOFA stamp so she can enter Germany and live together with me here. Legal and the Consulate informed me that I would have to get here in to the country of Germany through the German government. We did all of the paperwork at the Consulate in Moskow for a Visa.. They sated that all was in order, but the Visa to enter Germany would have to be approved by the Ausländer Amt in Saarbrucken.
When I contacted them they stated that I required an Aufenthaltstitel, but I could only get one if I got the German stamp in my Passport and was no longer working for the U.S. government. Now I am being forced to retire if I want to continue to live in Germany which has been my home for 37 years., and be together with my family They have stated that until I am retired that there is no way I can bring my family into Germany. Is this correct? Is there no way to get a SOFA stamp for my wife. I had hoped to be together with my family for Christmas, but the possibility seems lesser every day. Appreciate your assistance.
