I was born at this hospital in June of 1964. Nice to see a picture of it. I too had to go through the State Department in the 1980′s to get a birth certificate. I also have one from the hospital itself, complete with seals, but sadly some agencies still have a problem with it, so I have to show bothwhen necessary.
I am trying to find medical records for when I was an infant back in the 1970′s. I was born in the Nuermbery military hospital. Is the base still open and would the records still be at the hospital?
Hi : I was born in the hospital in nuremburg in 1961. can someone please help me find my birth certificate, a phone no. or ideas of where to call. thanks for your help. Bill in No.California
Not sure you got an answer yet… My son was born there as well. I had to apply for a birth certificate from the state department, bureau of consular affairs. Passport services. You receive a cirtification of birth abroad.
I was born on November 14, 1959. My birth Certificate says I was born in Nurnberg, but I have always been told that I was born in Furth – can anyone give me any idea why there may have been confusion regarding Furth and Nurnberg?
Thanks
Also was anyone else there at the time that I was born?
no most definately not. The Hospital is a part of Nuernberg!
The city limit of Fuerth is still several km from there.
So, anyone born in that Hospital was in fact born in the city of Nuernberg.
The gate had the insricption Standortlazarett Nuernberg-Fuerth, but this would be mostly due to the fact that it was in a very rural area in the 30s and basically placed in between the two towns.
i was at the 98th gen hosp dec 86 -dec 88 belonged to 87 med detachment (dentac) a friend stumbled on this sight let me know about it anyone out there there at that time
I was station at Nurnberg Hospital from 1979-1982 the first year was a little strange from a kid 5 months out of high school but, you grown up quick. Its was fun.

I was stationed at Nurnberg hospital 1967-1970 as a medical lab tech. Met a lot of wonder people and soldiers. Would love to return to Nunberg for a visit. This brings back wonderful and lasting memories.
I worked at Nürnberg Army Hospital from 1984-1986 in the Property Book Office as a hand receipt clerk for Mr. Bean. Mr. Bean was the Property Book Officer and walked around shaking his change in his pockets all day. Seems like such a long time ago– I am still civil service almost ready to retire. My children were very small now I am Grandma to 4 boys. I worked for Mrs. Asher in the basement then got moved upstairs to the Property Book section. Lots of really nice people. Anyone remember Mr. Bean????? I think he got in trouble just before I left. I was a Army wife — (still am-he is retired now) — I was young. I also remember Danny — Danny Wayne Hattabaugh the motor Sgt at the Hospital. So soft spoken and country-he was from Ky or Tenn no maybe Arkansas!!!! Also our Log Sgt we called him “FLASH” can’t remember his name – he had girly tat’s on his arms and the his boss made him cover then up when he was in our office. What a hoot!!!!!! My husband Jim was stationed at Johnson Barracks and we lived in Furth on the 4th floor. I loved it.
I remember Hattabaugh who was NCOIC of the 98th General Hospital motor pool.
I had worked in the Operating Room there from Sept. 85- April 92. We lived on the German economy at 2 different locations during our Nuremburg tour.
I was there at that time as well. I worked in the Adjutant shop. CPT Gwynn was there (I wont go into that) . Col Claypool was the commander when I first was assigned there. I moved from there up to 7th Med command. I ran the mail room info desk and repo center. I used to go and conduct staff visits to all of the clinics. We used to live in the apartments right across the road from the hospital.
Hi, I’m trying to find out info about my birth. I am told that was born in Nuernberg Army Hospital on August 29 1980 but my birth cert has no parents’ names on it. I was told my parents’ names were Janie Branch and Robert Nelson, posted in Nurnberg at that time. Are there any records left from the old hospital?
Jen, I was stationed at the Hospital When you were born, As a matter of fact my son was born there on August 1st of 1980. I believe that you may have better luck contacting the local authorities in Nurnberg for information. Records from the hospital itself should have been maintained at the nearest military medical facility. Good luck in your search.

Charles, My daughter was born at that hospital in November 1952 but I have no info about it. I was in the the battalion attached to 2d Armored Cavalry stationed in an old Kaserne somewhere near Soldiers Field. Was the hospital located right downtown? I have vague memories of where it was. I was actually one of the first white officers to go there because it was an all black unit attached to the 2AC and at this very moment I cannot remember the number of the AIB (thats what 84 years will do to you.you cant remember stuff). As soon as I send this I will remember it. Bill

Try contacting the local German authorities in Nurnberg, all birth records from military hospital are processed there, and I would imagine they are maintained there as well. The American consulate in Germany may be able to help, or possibly even the U.S. Dept. of State. Good Luck Bill
I was born in the Nurnberg Army Hospital March 1982 and I recently had to get my original birth certificate. I called all over. I ended up having to order mine from Washington DC since it is a special Certificate. I can’t remember what place I called though. I would try the US Dept. of State though. When I got it several years ago it was $30 for each one because I am considered a US citizen, but born abroad. Good luck
Born at the Nurnberg Army Hospital in July ’72. Now serving on active duty in Stuttgart. Was going to plan a trip to Nurnberg, and as part of the trip, visit the area where the hospital stood. But I just saw that it is now covered in housing! Not much to see I suppose, so I’ll sight see the city.
I was stationed at Katterbauck Kasern in 1974,75,76 and I was in the Hospital in Nurmberg for one month with a broken jaw from a jeep wreck at Hornfeltz Grafenveir Spell? I need to find the records from the hospital at Nurmberg during that time?

My name is Mark Tocholke. I was born on March 25th, 1976 at the Nurnberg Army Hospital. The reason why I’m writing you is to see if you knew my father-Sgt. Helmuth Tocholke. He worked at the hospital although, I’m not sure which department.

Hi. I was born in a Nuerenburg Army Hospital in 1992. I was wondering if this hospital was open at that time. My father was stationed in Germany for many years but after I was born he got out of the military and sadly we left only months after I arrived. Dr. Cody was my moms OB at the time. I was wondering does anyone know anything about the hospital at that time because I would love to know more about it.
Hi Sheree, I am US Army (retired). My US Army Reserve unit did 15 days of annual training at the Nurnberg Army Hospital the first 2 weeks of April 1992. Yes, it was open at that time. I worked in the post office section of this hospital, while my medical army reserve unit assisted the daily medical issues in this hospital. Its a beautiful and distinguished hospital with much history. I also loved the city and I wish some day to return. Should you have other questions, perhaps I may help. Yours, Bruce
