@Rick,

no most definately not. The Hospital is a part of Nuernberg!
The city limit of Fuerth is still several km from there.

So, anyone born in that Hospital was in fact born in the city of Nuernberg.

The gate had the insricption Standortlazarett Nuernberg-Fuerth, but this would be mostly due to the fact that it was in a very rural area in the 30s and basically placed in between the two towns.

Hello, My twin sister and I were born here January 12th 1953. My father 1st Lt.Donald M. Covington and Mother Mary Graham Covington lived at the Hertzo base at the time. Went back to visit in 1965. Both parents deceased now. Father transfered from infantry and became a chaplain after 1955.

I was there at that time as well. I worked in the Adjutant shop. CPT Gwynn was there (I wont go into that) . Col Claypool was the commander when I first was assigned there. I moved from there up to 7th Med command. I ran the mail room info desk and repo center. I used to go and conduct staff visits to all of the clinics. We used to live in the apartments right across the road from the hospital.

I was born at this hospital in June of 1964. Nice to see a picture of it. I too had to go through the State Department in the 1980's to get a birth certificate. I also have one from the hospital itself, complete with seals, but sadly some agencies still have a problem with it, so I have to show bothwhen necessary.

ALL Nurnberg facilites closed in 1993. (I was the security manager for the Fuerth PX) the hospital was torn down not long after the last troops left.

I am trying to find medical records for when I was an infant back in the 1970's. I was born in the Nuermbery military hospital. Is the base still open and would the records still be at the hospital?

Not sure you got an answer yet... My son was born there as well. I had to apply for a birth certificate from the state department, bureau of consular affairs. Passport services. You receive a cirtification of birth abroad.
