    I was stationed there from 86-89 in the 240 rock as a water treatment spec. I’m looking for my long lost brother Jim Kemp. I fondly remember many benders, softball games and trips to Graff. Hey Jim if your out there shoot me an email.

    Stationed in W.O. Darby/Fuerth – TMO Nurnberg – 1973 – 1975. Looking for anybody that might have served during this time.

      Hello Jeff.
      I was stationed with the 240th S&S Co duty station Class III (POL) Feucht from 1973-1977.

      My second time in Nuernberg was from 1991-94 civil service Liasion Officer with the 66th MI.

      Kalb housing and W.O.D. was being shut down around early ’90. Kalb was returned to the German government and German families moved in. Families later suid the German government because of asbestos.

      I visited W.O.D. in July 2009. Hard to recognize. HQ was still standing some other well preserved blg were. The field arty bks a solid brick bldg was looking good. Along the PX road now there is a park like for families with kids. The old gas station houses now a German food store.
      Quarters are sproused up and looking good.

      I was stationed at Darby Kaserne from March 1973 until August of 1975 with the 42nd Maintenance Company of the303rd Maintenance Battalion. Nice to know that there are still a few of us left who remember the place. I actually had an apartment on a small farm near Cadlzburg outside of Nurnburg. My wife and I lived there for 2 years and our oldest daughter was born there. Would love to here back from you.

    I was not stationed there, but was a german girl that hung out at the bar on the conre, “Vicky’s Rock and Country Corner”. It was between 1989 and 1992, I have such fond memories of the soldiers we partied with. If anybody was there during that time, I would love to hear from you. I only remember a few full names, like Charles Michael Morgan from Florida, or Kevin Wilson from Oregon. But there was Allen, the MP, Tom from the Bronx, Larry and John, and so many other dear friends. I parties there with my girlfriends, Tina and Carmen.

    I was in the 240 th 82/ 83, Captin Russle was the Co. Worked in JB and Feucht Pol platoon. Does anyone remember Reforger Carbine Fortress ? Also Ski , Boyd, Ellis u guys out thier? God bless to my Darby brothers !!!!

      Hey James, I was there. Arrived June of 68 departed Dec 69. I was with A Battery and Sgt Sission (also know as Buster Boarhog) and the whole pack.

      Yes , it is the same William O. Darby. Kaserne and ship. those old ships were named after General officers killed in combat. I traveled on the Maurice Rose, and the Simon Buckner. Buckner was killed in Okinowa, and Rose was killed in Holland.

      Oh yes ……..those great navy cruise ships.I went over on the USN Stewart in ’52 andreturned in ’54 on the USN Heinzelman.We took the long way over and stoped off for 2 days in Reyojavak[sp] Iceland to drop off supplies and Air Force personel then down the North Sea to Bremerhaven.I’ve wondered when they finally put those WW2 rust buckets to scrap?..but they got us there and back.

      THE TWO that I sailed on,Buckner was scrapped in 1997, and the Rose was scrapped in 2000, both down in Texas. the Stewart is on display in Galveston , tx for you to see. HAPPY NEW YEAR, Hank

    I was stationed there from June 1985 to Nov.1986 in HHB 1/ 94 FA…had a blast and even played the talt show with my band AWOL. SPENT TIME at Chicago club and Luckys kneipe…the Winters were cold.I met my first wife there and my older kids still live outside of Furth.

      I was stationed @ O’Darby’s in the HHB 1/94 FA from 1985 to 1986 also, subsequent to de-activation of 1/94 FA i was transferred to Pinder Barracks, I’m trying to re-establish contacts w/ some old friends from that era who were w/ 1/94 FA

    correction on my last entry. The CO and both 1SG were over the company and located on W.O.D. casern. The rest of the soldiers were a mix of 63C mechanics and 76W.

    Where can I obtain a complete map of W.O’Darby including building numbers and what activity was inside?

    I have a list of soldiers that were assigned to the class III fuel depot Feucht/240th S&S Co:
    Co Maj Katuschi, 1SG Patterson (past away) while I was on CQ, 1SG Carter, SSG Blazer, SSG Donelly, SSG Green, SSG Kilmer (hell of a nice guy), SSG Deatley, SGT Owens, SP/5 Hayes, SP/5 Schweigert, SP/5 Lowery, SP/4 Bauer, SP/4 Johnson, SP/4 Osario, SP/4 White, my right hand man SGT Codero while working in the R&U shop and SSG Mayfield who was demoted to SGT after craching a German made potyporter into a bridge in Noerdlingen.

    Reading all this wonderful e-mails from W.O.D. brings back a lot of memories. Hello to Bill Brubaker. For my last 9 months with the 240th I worked in the R&U shop and I was the companies liason person with the German run post engineers. Speaking native German my 1SG Patterson used me to check in person on the status of workorders submitted. I became a regular visitor and gained a lot of friends while visting the various shops. Had my regular 10AM beer with my German counter parts.
    Many times I also had the same thoughts thinking of how many people I knew and how many of them are still a life.

    For four years I was stationed on W.O’Darby casern with the 240 S&S Co working out in Feucht class III POL next to the Army airfield and the ammo dump. Attended many REFORGER and FTX’s. First lived in Altenfurt later moved to Kalb housing. Stood many guard mounts at Merrill barracks.

    Came back to Nuernberg as a civil servant 66th MI in 1991-94. Lived in Leichendorf just below Pinder barracks. Later moved to gerhart-Hauptmann Str. Kalb housing in Fuerth. Total time in Nuernberg 7 excellent years of my life. Visited in 2009. Most of the building what used to be W.O’Darby have been removed. Only some remain. Most prominent was the U/I Arty Bn going out the back gate. Years ago renevated and now occupied by locals.
    Great times great memories. Proud to be a Cold War Warrior. Miss that time. Stress full times with NEO briefings and all but not one shot was fired.

    Station at Darby 24th S&S, from 1979 to 1982, left the Army went back into the Marine Corps, Now a Former/Retired Marine I servied with 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, B Company Weapons Platoon, Desert Shield/Storm and deployed to Kuwait OIF I & II. While station at Darby I hung around with Gary Musezenberg, any one know his whereabouts he was a good friend and would like to contact him.

      Was at 240th Motor Pool from 79-81 as wrecker operator with a short vacation as armorer. Don’t recall the name or face but might have known you or mutual friends. Holler if you want
